Summary
Safety and Training Manager – TOK Transit
The Safety and Training Manager must have a minimum of three (3) years or more of relevant and demonstrated experience.
A Safety and Training Manager will administer our training programs for Management, Operations, Maintenance and support staff. The Safety and Training Manager shall perform at a minimum the following functions:
> supervise all designated Safety and Training staff;
> possess a valid Ontario class B licence with Z (air brake) endorsement;
> have a clear Driver’s Abstract free of any demerit points and major offences;
> possess signing authority through the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) Driver Certification Program (DCP);
> be knowledgeable of, and shall ensure the TOK complies with, Federal, Provincial and Municipal regulations pertinent to licensing and the operation of a revenue service vehicles and support vehicles;
> develop and implement training and safety programs and plans, including developing the curriculum;
> develop new advance training techniques such as the use of Podcasts, a-learning and video;
> provide leadership and mentoring to ensure quality instruction for the training of new hires, on-going training of current employees and special training as required;
> administer and manage maintenance training programs;
> be certified to facilitate all programs requiring certification and ensure that all training staff meet the same criteria, including Defensive Driving, Transit Ambassador and Train the Trainer certification for standardized and specialized training programs;
> conduct training curriculum review and adjust training programs and materials to stay current and meet the needs of the staff and our clients;
> develop and ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and work rule books;
> ensure accurate record keeping for training delivery and employee training records;
> assist in managing Licence qualifications for Bus Operators, Supervisors and Maintenance personnel;
> review all accident reports and maintain an historical record of all events for the purpose of developing appropriate training materials;
> conduct safety and security reviews of all facilities and all TOK activities;
> manage and ensure compliance with the System Safety and Security Plan;
> ensure commitment to safety and training through proactive leadership and implementing industry best practice in all aspects of safety and training.
Other Experience/Education:
One or more of the following.
Transportation Health & Safety Association (THSAO) Fleet Driver or Professional Driver Instructor in Driver Education (PRIDE) certified or Ontario Safety League (OSL) Fleet Driver Trainer.
Additional Experience/Education
Thorough knowledge of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) is required;
Thorough understanding of MTO regulations;
CPR First Aid Instructor qualified;
CUTA Ambassador Customer Facilitator credential preferred;
OH&SA Certified.
