Position Overview
The Architectural Manager will be involved in all phases of the related projects, from initial concept discussion through design, production drawing development, detailing, architectural project co-ordination and client interfacing. The Architectural Manager will apply business and architectural solutions to meet company requirements and the best practice standards. Working to ensure delivery of excellence by applying knowledge of design, project planning and effective teamwork.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and update comprehensive project schedules and provide bi-weekly schedule updates and reporting to Principal Architect and Clients
- Assign, co-ordinate and review design and technical work of the project teams
- Prepare project design and financial feasibility
- Schematic design and modelling in Formit or SketchUp and Revit, including massing, space planning and project vision development. Client correspondence and presentations at 30%, 60%, and 90% completion of schematic design
- Site plan approval process and coordination with planner, civil and landscape, traffic, wind studies, etc… to support site plan approval process and correspondences with authorities
- Present project vision to all parties and ensure design directions are carried through
- OBC review
- Design coordination with production team and design coordination during construction colour, sample material selection and review
Provide leadership, direction and mentoring to team members to develop in-house expertise and methodologies for design and technical standards to advance the team and the efficiency and quality of the architectural work
- Develop new and implement and update current policies, standards and procedures for the architectural firm
- Assist in recruitment and selection of new team members and oversee development and maintenance of staff competence in required areas
Other duties as required
Qualifications:
- B.Arch or M.Arch from a University (CACB recognized). Enrolled in the OAA internship program or eligible for membership
- 8+ years practicing as an architect / manager and leading a team of interns, designers and technologists
- 8+ years’ experience applying best practices in similar role
- 3+ years’ experience working on mid/high-rise development projects
- Possess excellent graphic, 3D rendering, presentation design skills and abilities (portfolio required)
- Ability to communicate in a small energetic team environment
- Confident in the utilization of Microsoft Project, Wrike, MS Office, 3D Studio Max, Formit / Sketch-Up, Revit, AutoCAD, BIM360, etc.
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to meet deadlines and follow-through with strong organizational skills
