The Saskatchewan Foster Families Association requires an individual interested to work as part of our In Home Support Program in supporting families requiring domestic and childcare supports. This support position is for a home located in Lanigan, SK.

The Saskatchewan Foster Families Association exists to support and encourage foster families through education and advocacy, helping create healthy homes, positive environments, and brighter futures for children and youth in care across the province.

As an In Home Support Worker your role is to provide direct support to Foster Parents or Caregivers in meeting the daily needs of the children or youth placed in their homes as well as helping to maintain the cleanliness of the home. Although childcare is included in the delivery of supports, the primary role of the Childcare Worker is to assist with childcare while under the direct supervision of the Foster Parent or Caregiver, or their designate (Babysitter, Respite Provider). Qualified applicant must be reliable, and physically able to perform their duties, possess good time management skills, and able to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and monitor the safety of children/youth
  • Prepare and organize meal and snack times
  • Assist with children’s daily routines relating to eating, resting, hygiene, and bathroom use
  • Change diapers of infants and toddlers as required
  • Organize and participate in recreational activities which may include outside play or structured developmental activities
  • Assist children with homework as required
  • Perform housekeeping duties such as laundry, dishwashing, and cleaning related to the general upkeep of the household; Sanitize toys and play equipment as needed. Sanitizing bathrooms, kitchen, and surfaces throughout the house. Dust, sweep, mop, and vacuum living areas.
  • Help with organization within the home

Education:

  • Minimum High School Diploma; Post Secondary education in early childhood education is considered an asset

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • 1 years of relevant childcare experience in addition to education
  • Criminal Record Check inclusive of Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Valid Driver’s License to travel to and from the home in Lanigan, SK
  • Job experience preferred in one of the following fields: daycare, educational assistant, house cleaner

This support position is for 20 hours/week. Hours of work are flexible dependent on the homes weekly needs and the qualified applicants availability.

Wage for the position is $14.00 per hour.
