CN Rail is offering an incentive package to successful applicants for the Bilingual Rail Traffic Controller position based in Edmonton, Alberta .
To those successful candidates that complete training and qualify as Rail Traffic Controllers, CN is prepared to offer an incentive package to those who agree to relocate to Edmonton for a minimum period of three years from the following cities: Montreal Quebec,Winnipeg, Manitoba and Moncton, New Brunswick.
Offer extended to new applicants:
- Upon completion of their probationary period, the employee will be entitled to a lump sum.
- Successful applicants who move to Edmonton will also be entitled to special lump sum allowances (after year 1, 2 and 3 years of continuous employment in Edmonton)

The Rail Traffic Controller (RTC) is a Safety Critical Position that is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trains and engines and the protection of on-track equipment and personnel as required on their assigned territory.
Must be proficient in all rules (Canadian Rail Operating Rules), regulations and procedures governing railway operations under their control.
Required to ensure on-track forces receive the maximum available time to perform maintenance work and inspections while avoiding delay to scheduled train movements.
Must manage emergencies and other unexpected events ensuring primarily that the safety of the employees and public is protected while at the same time limiting the impact to railway operations.
Required to maintain concise records and enter reports via various software applications.

Previous experience as a Rail Traffic Controller would be an asset
Successful candidates will undergo a lengthy training program (approximately 5 to 6 months) involving classroom and practical instruction. Candidates will be subject to a probationary period of 130 shifts.
Work location & Schedule:
The Rail Traffic Controller Centre is a 24/7 operation. Candidates must be willing and able to work any shift (day, evening, night), weekends and holidays.
High School diploma or equivalence
University degree or post-secondary degree a strong asset
Paid training starting at 29$/hour and once qualified, rate can go up to 50$/hour
