As a Community Financial Assistant you will:
Conduct reviews and analyses of rate setting processes to ensure compliance with the Ministry of Health (MOH) rate setting guidelines.
Gather and compile financial data, research, organize and summarize information for reports.
Indentify discrepancies and investigate problems related to resident rates and associated processes.
Interview clients/families/facilities for gathering necessary information.
Assist clients when approaching external resources and provide practical support when needed.
Acquire and maintain a supply of up to date information on services/agencies/resources.

Education & Experience
Diploma or Certificate in Social Services from a recognized College and a recognized accounting certificate plus three (3) years recent related experience working or equivalent combination of training education and/or experience.
Valid B.C. Drivers’ License. Local area travel requires the use of a personal vehicle for which mileage will be reimbursed.
Knowledge & Abilities
Computer literacy and knowledge of computer software programs related to financial management.
Working knowledge of relevant legislation such as Income Tax Act, Patient Property Act, Power of Attorney Act, other applicable federal and provincial statutes and provincial Home and Community Care policies
Ability to do mathematical and financial calculations.
Knowledge of principles and practices related to financial and budget management.
Ability to analyze and resolve problems.
Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory work relationships with the public.
Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with co-workers, public and staff from other agencies
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, including utilizing skilled business writing.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.
Ability to keyboard.
Knowledge of general office procedures.
The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
