The Registered Nurse (RN) participates in nursing assessments and interventions, care planning, implementing prescribed treatments, administering medications, evaluating treatments, and monitoring/documenting treatment progress and patient/resident response. Acting as an advocate, coordinator and liaison for the patient/resident, the RN identifies needs and sets priorities in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The RN facilitates patient/resident and family education and discharge planning, and may be required to act in a charge nurse capacity. The RN is responsible for the provision of care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health.

Graduate of a Registered Nurse program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Experience in mental health (Geriatric Psychiatry) or related settings required. Ability to work independently, provide leadership and function as a team member. Ability to be proactive with individual learning needs and up-to-date with current competencies. Must be able to work in a fast paced and, at times, highly stressful environment. Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently. Strong assessment skills to recognize and respond appropriately to patient changes in status. Strong communication skills and ability to adapt communication style to meet varying needs. Good organizational, time management and conflict resolution skills required. Ability to be objective in decision making.
I.V. certification and Alaris pump training preferred. Current Non Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training preferred. Charge nurse experience preferred.
