We’re a small but awesome company in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu currently looking to hire an in-office, full-time assistant editor—ASAP!


You’re an excellent writer, editor and proofreader who understands how to use the rules of written language to convey a message. Your sentence structure is flawless and your overall grasp on English grammar is impeccable. You know how to take even the most mundane of subjects and transform them into engaging pieces of writing. You can easily adapt complex subjects into conversational pieces that are informative and easy to read. You love to learn and enjoy sharing new information with others using the written word. You’re great at research and can quickly grasp new concepts.

In addition to the above, you also have great organizational skills and an ability to meet deadlines under pressure. You can juggle multiple priorities and know how to stay on top of numerous tasks.


To be considered for this position, you must have the following:

  • Three or more years of professional writing and/or editing experience
  • Complete understanding of English sentence structure, punctuation and grammar
  • Ability to edit for copy and style
  • Understanding of the differences between Canadian and American English
  • Comfort working with both CP and AP style guides
  • Ability to accept editorial feedback and then make changes to improve your work
  • Ability to give editorial feedback to improve the work of others
  • Strong research skills
  • A good attitude and strong work ethic
  • Willingness to work in an office as part of a team
  • Basic computer skills
  • Familiarity with writing for both print and the web


You may be given special consideration if you also possess:

  • Fluency in French
  • The ability to translate from French to English
  • A degree in journalism, communications, creative writing, translation or other related field
  • Basic knowledge of SEO
  • A sense of humour


This is an in-office, full-time position. You’ll spend your days working on a variety of writing, editing and proofreading assignments. Some of your job duties will include:

  • Ghostwriting blog posts for a variety of Canadian businesses on a diverse range of topics (dental health, plumbing, insurance, garage doors, roofing, eye health, pets, landscaping, HVAC systems, etc.)
  • Writing a variety of short texts for print publication
  • Researching in order to be able to write the above
  • Editing a variety of texts for copy, style and accuracy
  • Proofreading a variety of texts prior to publication
  • Assisting with other ongoing projects.


We’re a small but friendly company located in beautiful Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. Our office is accessible by car or bus (we’re just a 40-minute drive or 60-minute bus ride from Montreal). We have fun company events throughout the year including an annual summer BBQ and Christmas party. We’re a group of hardworking individuals who come together as a team to get the job done, but we do so with a sense of humour and a great deal of respect for one another. After three months, you’ll receive health insurance and be eligible for our voluntary retirement savings plan (an RRSP contribution matching program).
