The Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Coordinator oversees the health and safety mandate for the Miramichi site. This position will own the health and safety program; will observe and recognize safe behaviors and; will correct unsafe behaviors with a continuous improvement mindset. He or she reports directly to the Site Manager while maintaining good communication with the Regional Environmental Health and Safety Manager and the Benefits Administrator, to ensure compliance with Policies and Procedures.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Coordinate Environmental, Health and Safety initiatives in St Margarets and Eel River

Ensure compliance with all relevant national, provincial, industry, corporate and site-specific policies and regulations

Facilitate various training, as required

Develop and implement pre-production on-boarding sessions

Perform safety orientation for new employees and contractors

Maintain employee training matrix and validate the effectiveness of training

Ensure contractors have valid WorksafeNB Clearance Certificates

Managing action plans stemming from various inspections and audits

Reporting and investigating accidents and near misses, with an emphasis on finding the true root cause(s)

Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee

Maintain suitable inventory of Personal Protective Equipment and related supplies

Participate in various audits and inspections

Arrange disposal and tracking of waste (hazardous, universal and general)

Arrange for service and inspection of various environmental, site and personal protection devices

Assist Foremen, Supervisors and/or Site Manager to maintain a safe working environment

Minimum Qualifications:
Related post-secondary education.

Minimum 3 years relevant experience in an industrial setting

Experience working in a unionized environment

Experience conducting Workplace Incident Investigations

Current, valid driver’s license

Asset Qualifications

Worksafe New Brunswick experience

Bilingual (French/English)

Experience using Google Suite
