About the Role:
As an Assistant Program Manager you are responsible for the effective day to day running of the program operations, and to be the first point of contact for all participants who visit the GVI hub. The Assistant Program Manager is to assume the role of senior manager when the Program Manager is unavailable.

The Assistant Program Manager will also be involved in leading morning and night turtle surveys, delivering suitable training for the volunteers while assuring high quality data collection. In addition you will be required to assist the Program Manager in ensuring the validity of GVI’s community programmes and liaise with local partners as necessary.

Based in the beautiful Bay of Kyparissia in the western Peloponnese, you will be involved with conserving and protecting one of the most important loggerhead turtle nesting areas in Greece.

Responsibilities

Connect and liaise with in-country partners to build and maintain relationships, ensuring projects have maximum valuable impact
Design local development theory, implement project monitoring and carry out periodic evaluation of impact
Complete financial and overall reporting of the hub
Training, on-boarding and management of all staff
Implementing new programs and initiatives as required
Ensure Health and Safety of all participants, staff and other visitors to the hub while on project
Effectively manage any issues that come up in the field on a day to day basis, including participant complaints, medical issues, natural disasters etc
Manage day to day logistics of project and the base schedule
Assist the staff team with project deliver
Effectively reporting, storing and back up of all program work.

Experience

The following experience is required for this role:
Experience of volunteer management
Experience working with turtles
Manual driving license
First aid qualification
Familiarity with Microsoft package
