What You’ll Do
Promote a safe working environment.
Be familiar with Transport Canada, Work Safe BC and Interfor’s polices, practices and regulations.
Become a member of the Marine Guild Union.
Build log booms and lockages.
Build boom and lockage sticks.
Bending, twisting, lifting and pulling.
The ability to work in all weather conditions all year around.
Must be able to work away from home for periods of up to 14 days.
Mechanically inclined with the ability to do minor maintenance work on vessel.
Able to work in tight quarters with crew members for extended periods.
What You Offer
WHMIS certification is recommended.
TDG is recommended.
SVOP or Equivalent.
Marine First aid (Med A1).
Able to swim.
Willing to work 7-14 days 12-hr day shifts followed by 7-14 days off.
Willing to work 7-14 days 6hr on 6hrs off on a 4-man crew tugboat followed by 7-14 days off.
Previous log booming/towing experience.
Officers will need to operate various types of Boom boats, tugs and crew boats.
Able to work within a team atmosphere.
Preference will be given to those working towards becoming a Captain of a 60+ ton tugboat.
