Reporting to the Director, Communications, the Digital Content Strategy Manager works with the Director and the Communications team to provide content direction and oversight of branded and editorial content to be leveraged across digital marketing and communication channels to engage the membership and enhance the public’s understanding of APEGA’s purpose and its value as a self-regulatory body for the engineering and geoscience professions in Alberta.
The Digital Content Strategy Manager is responsible for spotting trends and technologies that play roles in members’ lives and delivering compelling content in this regard. The position leads the development of a digital content strategy and related operational activities for APEGA to strengthen its external profile, build its brand and key relationships, and ensure information is delivered to members and stakeholders in an engaging, timely, and informative manner. Digital content initiatives include website copy, white papers, magazine and newsletter articles, blog posts, videos, social media content, news releases, and product/service descriptions—content and information programs that are developed and delivered to members and public stakeholders that are intended to inform and engage.
The Digital Content Strategy Manager will focus on crafting and implementing a digital content strategy that will build awareness and engagement around APEGA’s value and impact across the province while responding to members’ needs. Determining key indicators to analyze campaign performance metrics to measure progress and identify improvement areas is an important requirement for this role to help shape APEGA’s emerging brand presence.
This position has reporting to it a team of four: Writer & Editor, Digital Content Specialist, Social Media Specialist, and Content Writer.
Lead the creation of and oversee development and implementation of a digital content strategy.
Develop a digital content calendar and integrated implementation plan.
Provide direction and oversight of digital content, including videos, blog posts, social media channels, email newsletters, and other digital media.
Create and maintain content calendar.
Use metrics to refine content strategy as necessary.
Work collaboratively with internal and external content producers and SMEs to develop on brand materials focused on the overall priorities of APEGA.
Optimize the mix of audience, content and media, ensuring these maintain the voice and overall brand of APEGA.
Oversee and approve the creation of content that reflects the brand strategy, provides APEGA organizational knowledge, and resonates with the intended target audience.
Manage all parts of the digital content development process. Set priorities, manage internal and external resources, and solve problems to ensure digital products are developed efficiently, on schedule and on budget.
Develop the editorial process and authoring guidelines.
Collaborate closely with marketing and communications team, and various “client”-side, internal divisions and departments to develop high-level strategies for digital components, giving detailed attention to schedules, resources, and budget requirements.
Determine key indicators to analyze campaign performance metrics to measure progress and identify improvement areas.

Strong content portfolio demonstrating the ability to cover a wide range of subjects.
Proven omni-channel editorial and narrative skills with the ability to align messaging across multiple channels and platforms.
Post-secondary degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Digital Technologies, or a related field.
5+ years of progressive experience and proven leadership in the digital space, especially focused on producing content-driven marketing and communication strategies and materials.
At least five years of hands-on experience with SEO, SEM, Google Analytics, CRM software, CMS and automated marketing tools. Expertise with digital content creation, communication, and engagement tools and an understanding of current and future trends.
Experienced in crafting a digital strategy and the successful implementation of strategy executions with a commitment to data and analytics to drive and guide performance.
Experience overseeing the development of digital newsletters, microsites, and landing pages, as well as using social monitoring and web search to inform communication strategy and audience-focused digital/web/social content.
Adept at building and maintaining relationships to facilitate impactful digital leadership across audience segments.
Experience working in collaboration with IT leaders and teams. Experience with intranet management/implementation a plus.
Experience coaching, developing, and managing a team of content writers and producers.
Membership with IABC, CAAP or CPRS would be an asset.
