Carrier Sekani Family Services (CSFS) is seeking a Communications Generalist. The Communications Generalist (CG) provides communications support for the organization, clerical and record management for the Director of Communications and Executive Director of Communications and Data Governance and the communications team. The CG provides communications support to organization representatives including the preparation and posting of social media posts, updates to the website, news story/content creation research, data collection, report writing, photography, event planning and other communications functions.

Responsibilities

Planning and scheduling of social media posts across various platforms / updates for our agency website.
Provide communications reports that illustrate website and social media trends, data, and noted market trends.
Assist in the assembly of communications, interviews, research and photography for the bi-monthly CSFS publication of Goozih Dust’lus Newsletter.
Maintain a photo, document and record electronic filing system, and data input for statistical measurement purposes.
Develop strong, cooperative relationships with internal and external partners, customers, clients and colleagues to foster collaboration and partnership
Adjust communication techniques based on platform audience and users
Monitor CSFS social media and website platforms for user activity and notifications
Identify, analyze and resolve problems in a timely manner
Provide various types administrative support to the Director and Executive Director
Coordinate setting up appointments and meetings, document meeting minutes, and maintaining accurate records and filing systems.
Liaise with the Director and Executive Director to prepare agendas, draft letters, research and assemble supporting documentation, and other notices.
Coordinate travel arrangements, training and events for the program as required.
Support the organization of agency wide events and presentations for the Annual General Assembly, strategic planning meetings, conferences and other meetings/events.
Organize and participate in training as outlined in performance evaluations and approved work plans, and as directed.
Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities / Preferred Skills

First Nations culture and traditions (specifically Carrier and Sekani)
Strong written communication skills across a variety of platforms including newsletters, social media and website applications
Knowledge of communications and marketing fundamentals
Knowledge of copyright and licensing regulations
Ability to adjust strategies for different user demographics across varied communications platforms
Interpersonal and relationship building skills
Highly organized with time management skills
Detail oriented with ability to meet deadlines
Professional Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design or other related training and/or experience would be an asset
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Social Media channels and website updating applications (word press).
Accurate typing, minute taking, and file management skills
Strong decision-making skills, a willingness to learn and take risks using sound judgement

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

Minimum Grade 12
A diploma, certificate or training in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design or related field
2 years of experience in communications or marketing field
A combination of education and experience will be considered

Special Conditions

Initial and on-going employment is subject to submission of a clear Criminal Record check. Criminal Record Check must be conducted every three years.
Must possess a valid driver’s license

Tools/ Equipment

Use of computer and accessories; Windows Operating System, various software applications (including MS Office suite and Adobe). Use of adding machine, photocopier/fax machine and other office supplies.
