As a member of the team you will be exposed to cutting edge mining, mineral processing, and information technology, such as Machine Learning, Automation, and Real Time ore sorting. You may also have an opportunity to learn more about data science techniques and perform analytics on real time data. In 2019 Teck implemented a strategy called RACE21™. Successful candidates will have the following qualifications and responsibilities:
Working towards an Undergraduate degree in Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science
Provide technical support to performance benchmarking and cost analysis exercises to identify areas for operations improvement
Provide assistance in the development of departmental budgets, and assist in the auditing of performance to budget
Develop/maintain analytical reports/models based in PowerBI.
Participate in the monthly forecasting process, supporting ongoing delivery of accurate and timely projections on production costs and capital allocations.
Provide detailed analysis on month end transactions, looking for trends and opportunities.
For top value opportunities or initiatives identified either through our cost reduction or RACE21 programs, work many involve working as a part of a larger project/change team to deploy and embed consistent, repeatable improvement practices, processes and systems.
Support with the payroll function as required, including backfilling vacation for the payroll clerks
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to present information and assist with project planning, while communicating clearly to all levels of the organization
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SQL
Participation in the health and safety programs of Teck to ensure that everyone on site goes home safe and healthy every day
All students will be required to complete pre-employment drug testing prior to commencing work.
