To manage a division of the operations group including Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and Project Managers Assistants in the successful completion of several projects.

You will have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and experience mentoring members of your team. Your ability to establish superior relationships with clients will be vital to your success.

Responsibilities and duties to include:
Participate in the recruitment of new personnel, promotion of personnel, and the dismissal of personnel as required. Allocate manpower as required to manage project workload.
Promote, teach, and encourage all staff in "The Ventana Way" of doing things.
Provide training and mentoring of Senior PM's, PM's and PC's in cost control methods, estimating, client relations, risk management, technical and building methodologies, scheduling, dispute resolution, running meetings, etc. Train Senior PM's to be capable of assuming your position.
Review systems within Operations and where applicable initiate improvements to increase customer service, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, minimizing risk, employee job satisfaction. To be completed in cooperation with the VP of Operations and other Operations Managers.
Perform all personnel reviews in participation with the Senior PM's and the VP of Operations, where applicable.
Assume responsibility for client relations in all current and former projects. Attend project meetings as required.
Perform marketing responsibilities as required for current, former, and future clients including attending interviews, regular site meetings, social events, and when necessary, pursuing clients.
Advise, and where applicable, manage dispute situations including liens, lawsuits, insurance claims, and substantial client or trade disputes.
Liaise with the Pre-Construction department on work volumes, manpower allocation, and current and past costing analysis.
Assist Pre-Construction in estimating and tendering as may be required. This may include assisting in schedule analysis and tender closings, etc. It may include providing value engineering and attending design meetings. It may also include liaising with municipalities and user groups as in the case of some P3's
Review and potentially negotiate head contracts and review and sign all subcontracts.
Promote and participate in LEED activities
Ensure VCC and our clients are appropriately protected by insurance on all projects under your supervision. Advise on insurance types and any potential or actual claims
Manage the Project Managers Assistants
Review of invoices and timesheets
Assist in pursuing receivables when required
Participate in PM/PC meetings and set agenda
Assist Senior PM's and PM's with maximizing profit. Provide advice on significant or controversial changes and fees.
Coordinate vacation time for operations staff including organizing replacement personnel when required. Ensure projects' and clients' needs are being met during these times and during Christmas break or other extended breaks
Collect, review and submit completed cost projections to VP of Operations
Assist in managing the professional development of employees under your supervision. IE seminars, courses, training programs
Assist with potential Ventana head office renovation and maintenance when required.
Provide active participation in relevant committees and associations as time and work conditions permit.
Participate in the writing or updating of company manuals, policies, and notifications.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum 7 years of construction industry experience in a senior-level position
A mix of residential, commercial and industrial projects
Post-secondary, technical education (BCIT) or similar in construction or industry-related program
Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite and good technical knowledge of Microsoft Project
