Our team is growing and we are actively looking to hire Manager, Financial Reporting to join our team.

The Manager, Financial Reporting is accountable for developing, implementing, and managing the Financial Reporting function to support the achievement of ACG’s short and long term Mission, Vision, and Strategic objectives. The Manager, Financial Reporting is accountable for:

Overseeing the accounting staff, infrastructure, processes, and reporting functions

Ensuring that the monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, as well as regulatory filings, are accurate and completed in a timely manner.

Providing pertinent information to Senior Management and the Leadership Team to make informed and relevant business decisions.

Applying expertise as a key contributor to cross-functional projects as well as a valuable resource to other business partners.

Researching and implementing new accounting standards applicable and training staff

Participating in business initiatives that require accounting expertise

Accountabilities

Provide input and direction to the Finance team strategic and tactical plans

Ensure understanding of ACG business plans and direction

Contribute relevant information from a reporting perspective to cross-functional strategic discussions

Manage, Lead, and Develop the Reporting Team

Provide support and direction to the team and manage the timeliness, integrity and accuracy of the month-end close process including the reviewing of journal entries, account reconciliations, trending, analysis and consolidated/non-consolidated financial statements for various legal entities within ACG

Review the month-end/quarter-end/year-end financial reporting packages, Minimum Capital Threshold (MCT) calculations, financial reports, and other deliverables, summarizing results for the Leadership Team

Responsible for the coordination, review and support for the financial reporting disclosures for the timely filing of accurate consolidated/non-consolidated statutory financial statements with note disclosures and other regulatory filings, working as a resource to business partners

Collaborate with cross-functional teams for the year-end reporting schedule

Actively participate in meetings with the Financial Controller, the CFO, and the Accounting group from head office

Monitor and research new/amended International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) requirements to advise on new accounting treatments and to ensure compliance with IFRS and reviews reconciliations of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) differences; manage IFRS analysis program for team

Recommend and implement improvements to reporting processes and controls while maintaining the SOX environment

Apply expertise as a key contributor to cross-functional projects as well as a valuable resource to other business partners

Work with business partners (internal and external) to effectively communicate information for the audits, regular reporting requirements, and various cross-functional projects

Take the lead on functional and cross-functional teams/ projects

Act as an advisory role from an accounting, reporting and operations perspective.

Financial Information Controls

Ensure effective and meaningful controls are in place, protecting the integrity of the financial information being reported to various stakeholders

Responsible for implementing, assessing, reviewing, and adhering to Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) controls owned by the reporting area

Successfully prioritize and manage multiple request, medium to large size projects, and activities

Qualifications & Experience

Professional accounting designation (e.g. CA, CGA, CMA, CPA) is required

University degree majoring in accounting/business

5 plus years of relevant financial reporting/Financial Reporting experience (preferably within the financial services or insurance industry)

At least 2 years’ experience at a management level, supervising a team of new and seasoned staff

Advanced accounting knowledge of both IFRS and US GAAP

Strong reporting knowledge

Exceptional leadership and problem solving skills

Strong organizational and time management skills

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

Ability to effectively manage key business relationships both internally and externally

Advanced analytical skills with an ability to focus on the details

Knowledge of pertinent insurance regulations

Strong project management skills

Excellent research skills and attention to detail

Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on strong Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills

Experience with System Application (SAP), or similar accounting software
