The Heavy-Duty Mechanic will be responsible for promoting a safe and professional service by maintaining and repairing either mobile or marine equipment at our Castlegar Mill.
What You’ll Do
Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine extent of repair costs.
Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools.
Test and repair equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications.
Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment.
Service attachments and working tools blades, ploughs, winches and buckets.
Maintain, service and repair marine vessels.
What You Offer
Must have a valid class 5 Driver’s License.
Must hold a valid Red Seal ticket.
Experience in troubleshooting and repairing mobile equipment.
Experience with hydraulic systems and electric/electronic systems.
Marine vessel experience would be an asset.
Have working knowledge of Caterpillar and Detroit diesel engines.
Able to plan and forecast larger rebuild jobs.
Experience working in safety sensitive environment.
Must be willing to work in all weather conditions.
Must have on- call availability.
May be required to work weekends.
