Finance is infused into every single aspect of our multibillion-dollar global organization. But it's not just about numbers. The Accounting and External Reporting (AER) Manager will provide oversight and point of escalation for Canada (and occasionally US) AER activities completed by the Mondelēz Business Services (MBS) partners. This role will hold responsibility for Canada Month End Close. This role will support external/internal audits and be involved with AER projects. The role will report to and work closely with Canada AER Finance Manager (Canada Controller) ensuring monthly, quarterly and annual activities are completed accurately and on a timely basis. This role will drive process improvement and simplification as well as maintain no-surprise environment.
Review work done by MBS partners such as reports, journal entries or reconciliations- check for accuracy, analyze and interpret data. Articulate conclusions. Drive improvements
Support Month, Quarter and Year End Close Accounting and External Reporting activities; analyze general ledger activity; engage with MBS partners and cross functionally to make sure transactions are reflected correctly in the ledger; review journal entries; check Balance Sheet trends; manage due dates
Canada Statutory reporting - prepare financial statements for each Canadian legal entity; support complex, non-recurring transactions
Canada Pension accounting/audit - support financial statements compilation for each Pension Plan; review pension journal entries prepared by MBS, drive completion on time
Support Canada external audits - deliver finance data requests and explanations; work closely with IT and Canada Tax team. This activity requires critical thinking and expertise in SAP financial data
Support Royalties accounting for North America region - review reports/calculations/Journal entrees; work with the Licensing Team; engage cross functionally regarding contract terms, payments, etc
Work independently on global/regional projects as applicable
Maintain audit / activity/ project trackers, manage competing timelines and priorities, execute with excellence on time
Reach out broadly to drive deep dives/process improvements. Examples of cross functional work include (but not limited to) working with IT, Sales Finance, Treasury, Tax, Global Finance, Licensing and Back Office functions, etc
Solve problems, show initiative, proactively highlight risk and propose solutions/reduce complexity, think critically

Finance leaders, teams and functions in Canada, US or globally

Internal and external auditors
Bachelor of Science and/or Business degree in Accounting or Finance required
Canadian or US - CPA designation required (candidates working towards CPA designation in their final year may be considered)
Minimum 6 years' progressive experience in Finance with significant experience in accounting
Experience in General Ledger required, experience in SAP preferred, advanced Excel experience is required
Internal / External Audit experience is preferred
Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) accounting experience is an asset but not required
Experience in a multinational company is an asset
Strong team player who works collaboratively is essential
Demonstrated experience in process management and process improvement
Strong influencing and communication skills, and ability to lead activities/informal teams
Problem solving and critical thinking - proven experience
Ability to be detail orientated and handle/analyze large amounts of complex data
