Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, Track, the Manager, Track will be a key member of the Rail Management Team and will be instrumental in bidding pursuits of major projects and the delivery of multiple projects. The Manager Track will be responsible to oversee the track construction and maintenance of related projects.

Possess proven knowledge and extensive experience in conventional track and track related infrastructure technologies
Provide quality and senior level reviews of track alignment and track infrastructure designs, specifications, implementation methodologies, testing and commissioning activities, schedules and cost estimates.
Advise the Rail Management Team and Joint Venture Partners of track products and their suitability to meet contract requirements
Lead innovation forum covering track construction and maintenance within Rail
Provide monthly reports including cost forecasts, schedule and cash flow
Supervise, mentor, coach and track personnel in all aspects of track construction and maintenance
Maintain excellent stakeholder relationships with clients, subcontractors, engineering, and internal partners
Negotiate and issue subcontracts and major purchase orders and monitor their progress and schedule
Responsible for approval of payments to subcontractors, suppliers etc.
Estimate and process variation orders, including negotiating and assessing cost and schedule impact
Assume a key role in testing and commissioning and project close-out, including production of as-built design, archiving of documents, maintenance and warranty manuals, deficiencies and warranty work
Recruit, train and supervise staff
Set design and operations policies and standards, including determination of safety procedures for the handling of dangerous goods, and ensure compliance with transport regulations
Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate daily operations
Be an ambassador of the company both internally and externally
Implement and enforce Aecon’s Health and Safety program
Monitor company's or department's performance, prepare reports for senior management, and plan for changes to schedules and policies
Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate daily operations
Carry out all engineering administration in accordance with company policies and procedures

Required Knowledge and Skills

Two to three years’ experience in the construction, inspection, maintenance and repair of track and track related infrastructure
Knowledge of heavy rail standards, specifications and procedures
Previous supervisory experience
Previous experience working on joint venture projects
Two to three years’ experience as a Project Manager on rail projects
Two to three years’ experience in track reconstruction
Two to three years’ experience working on track construction and maintenance projects, with thorough knowledge of all aspects of track and track construction technology, equipment, methods, industry practices, estimating/budgeting, scheduling and safety requirements
Two to three years of experience working on and managing complex heavy and/or light projects in brownfield and greenfield environments
Experience working on work pursuits and proposals
Experience with financial and commercial management of complex rail projects
Two to three years’ experience leading the planning of all track and related activities, including defining the key interfaces with other disciplines
Two to three years’ experience with complex private and public partnership contracts

Provide advice, guidance, and direction to subordinate executives and managers toward their professional development

Compensation and Benefits

Target Base Salary - $150,000 - $170,000 /year CAD, 37.5 hours/week
