Description :
The CIUSSS West Island of Montreal is currently seeking an educator to fill a full time replacement at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute.

Job description:
Person who works directly with beneficiaries to ensure their education and rehabilitation in an institutional or external setting, depending on the intervention programs established in collaboration with the team of local professionals, with a view to fostering the rehabilitation of individuals and/or their reintegration into society. Applies education techniques involving daily living activities by organizing, coordinating and conducting programmed activities that are aimed at helping these individuals learn and acquire appropriate attitudes and behaviour.
Observes and analyses the behaviour of beneficiaries, participates in the assessment of their needs and abilities and records their progress by writing up the appropriate reports. Provides the programming for her/his activities.

Requirements :
  • Must have a college diploma with specialization in special education techniques or institutional re-education from a school recognized by the Ministry of Education, Recreation and Sports. This class also includes persons who, following relevant experience, hold a college certificate in special education techniques or institutional re-education;
  • Bilingualism;
  • Knowledge in interventions with a clientele in mental health;
  • Ability to contact residents;
  • Ability to make an intervention plan.
