1 Permanent, Full-Time Position at Central Library
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinates and plans programs for the system and liaises with local schools, community and/or professional agencies.
Develops, organizes, administers, supervises, delivers, and evaluates a comprehensive menu of library programs that meets the needs of the designated target areas.
Ensures a coordinated approach of service delivery, space utilization, and maximizes cross-over programming with fellow program coordinators and branch staff.
Develop program guides and learning modules for staff.
Offer shadowing opportunities and conduct in-person training.
Promotes library programs by providing accurate content for publicity and promotional materials.
Assists in the projection, recommendation, and control of budgets and assets related to the designated target areas.
Chairs a system Programming Committee and set objectives.
Participate in a consultative role on task teams, special projects and committees.
Provide feedback to managers on programming and committee staff up to and including senior librarians.
In the absence of the Supervisor, Library Program Development and Training may be responsible for the business unit.
Maintain all required statistics and prepares reports for management as required.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of programming based policies and procedures.
Skills and Qualifications
A recognized library science or information studies degree.
At least one year professional library experience.
Excellent interpersonal skills are essential in dealing with the staff and public.
Ability to effectively supervise staff. Demonstrated leadership skills.
Effective written and oral skills in English are essential.
Extensive knowledge and experience training staff.
Computer skills are required in relevant software such as Windows, Word, GroupWise, Excel, Power Point and Infopath/JetForms. Class is an asset.
Demonstrated keyboarding skills.
Some lifting is involved.
Hours of work for full time staff to include two evenings per week and alternate Saturdays.
SUNDAY WORK MAY BE REQUIRED.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a bargaining unit position. CUPE Local 1989 members will be given consideration for this vacancy, as per the collective agreement, followed by all other employees.

Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 76,409.06 - $ 88,353.98
Hours of Work: 35 Hours Per Week
