Deal Advisory is one of the three practices within Advisory, consisting of: (i) mergers and acquisitions; (ii) debt and equity financing; (iii) restructuring; (iv) public and infrastructure finance; (v) valuations and fairness opinions; and (vi) transaction services.

Within Deal Advisory, KPMG Corporate Finance Inc. is the OSC regulated entity through which KPMG LLP's investment banking services are provided in Canada. KPMG's Corporate Finance services are principally comprised of merger, acquisition and divestiture advisory services and financing services including raising debt and equity capital. We offer independent financial advisory and investment banking services to both private and public companies. Acting independently of financing sources, we provide clients with pure, objective advice, focusing on strategies that can help meet corporate objectives. We have an extensive international network of over 2,600 corporate finance professionals working from 160 offices in 86 countries thus providing KPMG Corporate Finance with a broad local reach and established contacts.

We are seeking a senior level Corporate Finance professional with five plus years of relevant experience to join our Corporate Finance team in our Ottawa Office.

Role & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Leading a range of corporate finance projects concurrently and assuming responsibility for the day-to-day execution and delivery of service on projects, primarily divestiture services and acquisition services.
Leading proactive business development and deal initiation activities.
Managing, mentoring and training more junior corporate finance professionals.
Undertaking engagement and practice management responsibilities including billings and adherence to professional practice requirements.
Reviewing complex financial and valuation models.
Conducting industry, public market and precedent transaction research and analysis.
At times, business needs arise and employees are required and agree to work beyond their normal work day or work week to fulfill the accountabilities required for their job. Likewise, people need time to devote to personal matters, and our approach to flexibility provides for this.

Skills & Qualifications

The successful candidate will have the following skills, behaviours and experience:
Business degree with 5+ years of relevant post-graduate experience acquired in investment banking, commercial/corporate banking, research, private equity, corporate development, or other similar corporate finance role.
CPA, CBV, MBA and/or CFA designation is preferred.
Ability to obtain Government of Canada Security Clearance
Experience in advising corporations and financial institutions on both buy-side and sell-side transactions.
Highly motivated, committed, self-starter and ability to cope with changing priorities.
Financing capabilities including experience in arranging senior, subordinated, asset backed and equity financing for corporations and financial institutions.
A proven track record of marketing and business development.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, up to and including C-suite individuals and public address.
Attention to detail and excellent project management and organizational skills.
Team player.
Ability to solve complex technical problems.
Strong analytical and interpretative skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated experience or ability in training, and developing subordinate staff members
International experience is an asset.
Must be willing to travel within and across Canada.
