About the Role

As a member of the Enterprise Physical Security (EPS) team, you will report to the Manager of Security Operations and provide guidance to the Canadian Business in meeting the contractual requirements for the Government of Canada, one of Sun Life’s largest Group Benefits contracts. The EPS Team is accountable to the Industrial Personnel Security Screening Directorate (IPSSD) to ensure Sun Life maintains compliance with the Industrial Security Manual (ISM).

You are responsible for day-to-day operations of the Government Application Screening process. This will include providing support and assistance for the Government Security Screening process, completing documentation that will be submitted to the IPSSD, providing updates to team leaders and guidance on the processing of Government Security Clearances to the business. Through these tasks you will ensure Sun Life maintains compliance with the ISM.

To be successful in this role you must have good written and communication skills, as you will be working with internal clients and a Federal Government agency. You will coordinate work across the Sun Life sites, requiring you to manage changing priorities from different sources. Creating and fostering internal partners is critical to your success. This requires you to be highly organized and not lose track of details. This process is critical to many teams in the Canadian Operations; therefore, you must be consistent and timely with the processing of repetitive tasks.

This position may interact with senior management at the Corporate and Business Group level, peers within Corporate Compliance, Information Security, Risk & Governance, Business Continuity, Real Estate and Human Resources in the delivery of the Program. This position may also interface directly with external government services officials.

What will you do?

Work on the security screening program administration process.
Build relationships with internal key business partners.
Provide guidance to Alternate Company Security Officers (ACSOs) on security screening requirements.
Assist the Compliance Analyst in executing solutions to ensure we maintain adherence with the contract.
Maintain and update compliance related databases and tools.
Supports the Compliance reporting process including gathering information and report preparation.
Provides administrative support in the form of meeting planning, correspondence and document management, travel arrangements, calendar management.
Completes assigned tasks or steps in compliance projects, reviews, etc.
Responds to internal and external inquiries, redirecting the inquiry as required.
Other administrative duties, as required.

What You Need To Succeed

Post-Secondary Degree or diploma in a relatable field is preferred
Minimum of 3 years of experience within a corporate, government security or risk department for a similar organization of comparable size and complexity.
Professional designation would be an asset

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
