Overview

Safeway is seeking a Pharmacist to fill a 6 month term position in our Central Fill facility in Surrey, BC. This is a dispensing pharmacist role primarily responsible for checking prescriptions, preparing blister packs and vial refills along with some compounding. The Pharmacist will play a key role in achieving departmental excellence. The Pharmacist will also provide guidance and supervision to Pharmacy students and Pharmacy Assistants. Actively contributes to an environment of employee engagement.

Job Description

Prescription safety prioritizing technical functions to Pharmacy Assistants when available.
Prepare blister packs and vial refills.
Check prescriptions for accuracy.
Prepare simple to complex compounded prescriptions in a lab setting.
Identification of actual and potential drug related problems.

Job Requirements

Technical Skills:
Above average communication skills (both oral and written)
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Self-directed and able to work independently to meet strict deadlines
Ability to be a team player in a fast paced environment

Education and Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from a recognized institution.
Previous experience in a compounding or central fill pharmacist setting is preferred.
