CASCADES TISSUE GROUP
The Tissue Group, a division of Cascades, is the second-largest tissue producer in Canada and the fifth-largest in North America. The Division manufactures, converts and markets a huge selection of paper products, such as hand towels, bathroom tissue, facial tissue, napkins, paper towels, wipers and dispensers for the North American away-from-home and consumer products markets. The Group has more than 2,200 employees and operates seven manufacturing plants, nine conversion plants and four plants with both manufacturing and conversion facilities.
The Packaging and Palletizing Specialist will be responsible for establishing and implementing packaging and palletizing policies and guidelines, designing and identifying the best packaging solutions for our products, coordinating packaging activities and ensuring accurate and consistent palletizing and labeling data. This new position is essential to meet the needs of our customers while implementing solutions that are environmentally and financially advantageous for them.
The Packaging and Palletizing Specialist will have the following main responsibilities:
Revise and maximize the packaging of products and methods in a cost-effective manner;
Analyzing customer requirements for packaging, palletizing and transportation according to their routing guidelines and making recommendations to improve the efficiency of our supply chain ;
Coordinate packaging issues, assist in their resolution and adjudicate packaging issues between Cascades departments;
Design and identify packaging solutions for new products according to all business requirements;
Establish, produce, implement and maintain packaging policies and guidelines that are efficient, high quality and consistent in type, quantity and design of labeling, consistent with brand objectives and data accuracy;
Provide technical support for any internal or customer requests;
Oversee the design, content accuracy and maintenance of packaging labels;
Work in collaboration with the corporate procurement group to source materials and equipment and/or create innovative packaging solutions when required;
Research new techniques and products to improve the efficiency of packaging methods;
Identify and document packaging and storage requirements.
Knowledge and skills required:
The packaging and palletising specialist must have the following qualifications:
Have an engineering, process or industrial background or equivalent experience;
Possess 2 to 5 years of experience in the fields of packaging, manufacturing, engineering or logistics;
Strong time management and planning skills to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously while adapting to changing business requirements;
Strong Microsoft software skills, particularly Excel;
Knowledge of TOPS software is an asset;
Proven track record of delivering results as an internal or external technical resource and/or as a professional resource with experience in manufacturing and distribution organizations;
Ability to work in a team environment while demonstrating autonomy and motivation.
Must be able and willing to travel 15% of the time, across North America to our various manufacturing and distribution units.
