Should you accept the challenge, this role will involve:
You will be introduced to the role with a list of specific responsibilities, how to deliver on them successfully, and what order you should focus on learning them. Your role will involve three main components: 1) Organizing and managing our shop/yard/fleet, 2) Maintaining and repairing equipment, and 3) Assisting the Operations Manager.
You will be the only full-time shop staff in the company but will be able to use contractors to assist during busy periods if needed. We have 20+ production staff, nearly 100 pieces of outdoor power equipment, 12+ trucks, and it all depends on this role to run efficiently, and dependably – this is a very important role in our business.
You will be the face of our business to all of our staff for maintenance/repairs, and keeping their equipment running. You must keep a pulse on what’s happening in production at all times with the help of the Operations Manager.
We are a young and driven management team who work very hard and value a rewarding lifestyle. You’ll hold regular goal setting and review meetings with the owner to share concerns, ideas, and successes.
Some of your day-to-day tasks will include:
Cleaning and organizing shops (one main shop, 2 satellite) and yard.
Coming up with and working on projects to improve our space and equipment to be more efficient and organized.
Performing maintenance and repairs – following your own knowledge, and our comprehensive preventative maintenance software. Maintenance and repairs on: 2 stroke equipment, skid steers, large hydraulic mowers, etc. Minor automotive repairs. Transporting equipment to other repair shops as needed.
7-day availability is required (all work done during the day). You are not a primary equipment operator, but you are to be a backup plow or spreader operator when needed.
Assisting the Operations Manager. Running errands for him, delivering backup equipment to a crew with something down, hopping in a plow truck, and generally assisting him wherever your skillset allows.
Training production staff on equipment maintenance, and holding them accountable for completing it. We have an in-house training program (always evolving), that you will assist the office manager to create lessons for. These are digital lessons, involving photos and videos.
Applicants must have/be:
- A genuine, trustworthy person that will contribute to our work environment in a positive way. Ask yourself: “Have I had quite a few issues working with others in the past? Would I say it was the other parties’ fault each time?” If yes, please do not apply.
- A problem solver. We like people who really own their role. We will give you the tools and systems, train you to be successful, and support you. It is expected that you will take problems and solve them, not bounce problems back to other managers without providing options and suggestions.
Exceptional time and priority management skills. Able to handle workplace distractions and multiple tasks without getting frustrated.
Fluency in English.
Preference to education in small engine mechanics, or other mechanical trades, but not needed.

Position Type & Schedule:
Full time year-round, 6:30 am start at the shop (near Glenmore/52nd St SE). M-F weekly, weekend work as needed. Winter on call for machine operator backup, and available for calls anytime crews are in operation.
