Our client a publicly traded biotech company is presently looking to hire an Assistant Controller. FULLY REMOTE ROLE
Responsibilities:
- Perform day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, including recording financial transactions, maintaining general ledgers, and reconciling accounts.
- Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely consolidated financial statements and MD&A under IFRS, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, for public reporting in Canada and the US.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including processing invoices, issuing payments, and reconciling vendor statements.
- Oversee the payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payment of employees, adherence to payroll tax regulations, and proper recording of payroll expenses.
- Coordinate with external auditors during annual and quarterly reviews, providing necessary documentation and supporting schedules.
- Assist with the preparation of technical accounting memos to document and communicate complex accounting issues, including revenue recognition.
- Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls and accounting policies to ensure compliance with SOX regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Stay updated on changes to accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives, leveraging technology and automation to streamline accounting procedures.
Qualifications:
- University degree in Business, Accounting and Finance.
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting(reporting is an asset).
- Knowledge and practical application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) an asset.
- Strong understanding of financial statement preparation, including the ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
- Proficiency in using NetSuite accounting software and advanced Excel skills would be an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- High attention to detail and accuracy, with a strong focus on data integrity.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, managing time effectively and meeting deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and offer innovative solutions.
- Proactive and adaptable mindset, with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Knowledge of payroll processing and accounts payable procedures is preferred.
Working Conditions: This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from the comfort of your own home or preferred workspace. You will be required to have a stable internet connection. The position will require virtual meetings and collaboration with team members across different time zones.

Salary: $65,000.00-$72,000.00 per year
