Position Summary
Based in Blackfalds, Central Dispatch will be responsible for receiving calls and dispatching drivers and equipment for the delivery of goods, to and from the field, for all branches. The Dispatcher provides support for and reports directly to the Lead Dispatcher and Branch Managers.
Essential Responsibilities
- Organization – Accurately receive customer orders and dispatch appropriate trucks. Recommend the most effective and functional method of movement of product for our customers. Dispatch only NSC compliant trucks, trucks sent out with advised deficiencies (i.e., maintenance services due) will require detailed explanation. Ensure all applicable road use and road permits are in place before dispatching units. Use of approved Sub-contractors only, in the event an unapproved Sub-contractor is required the Assistant Manager or Branch Manager must approve prior to dispatching. Must have the ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize as well as the ability to maximize company revenue through efficient deployment of fleet. In the absence of a Lead Dispatcher, Dispatchers need to work with the shop in prioritizing the repairs / maintenance of equipment.
- Documentation – Process documentation relating to deliveries (DT/CT/MR/ADJ/ST), inbound or outbound. Maintain the inventory program proficiently and accurately, ensuring all tickets relating to inventory have been completed and posted in a timely manner. Maintain electronic list of job orders and trucks, as well as times of pickup and delivery using Xpress and TruckMate Dispatch.
- Customer Service – Maintain customer relationships by ensuring excellent service and addressing any customer complaints in a professional and proactive manner.
- HSE – Ensure accurate daily trip inspections on power units have been completed in conjunction with proper utilization of driver hours while adhering to the Hours of Service regulations using e-logs. Assisting with yard and warehouse inspections. Work closely with the Lead Dispatcher, Assistant Manager and / or Branch Manager to ensure employees adhere to safety policies and report any incidents or issues. Participate in all safety and operations meetings. All employees are expected to make an ongoing contribution of constructive input in order to maintain safety excellence.
- Communication - Dispatch are front line supervisors for drivers and warehouse workers at the branches and they are to maintain good contact between all parties.
- Other Duties – Other duties as assigned including working in the warehouse when needed.

Qualifications
- Valid class 5 driver’s license.
- National Safety Code, Hours of Service and Fatigue Management training.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, ELD software, and the ability to learn new programs when required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Customer service experience.
- TDG, WHIMIS and other training as required.
- Complete the Business Management Certificate program provided by Mullen Group Ltd as time permits.
- Warehouse experience is an asset.
Working Conditions
- Office and Shop Work, with the possibility of sharing an office.
- Must wear personal protective equipment when required.
- This position is expected to be on call when required.
Physical Requirements
- Sit / Stand / Walk for intermittent periods.
- Sitting for extended periods.
- Lift / Carry weights up to 10 lb.’s occasionally.
- Working environment may be noisy at times.
