JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Manager – Lands, Resources and Treaty Operations (LRTO)

Reports To: Director of LRTO

Department: LRTO

Position Type: Full Time permanent

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday (8 hours per day / 40 hours per week)

(Flexible start and finish time aimed at the projects schedules)

SUMMARY

Working out of the Prince George with regular travel to and from Tsay Keh Dene Community and reporting to the Director of LRTO. This position will be responsible for Referrals Management, coordination of LRTO projects, LRTO administration and supervision of LRTO office staff. This position will administer and coordinator referrals and projects including field work/site visit component.

This position will also supervise LRTO office staff both in the Prince George Office and in Tsay Keh Dene community. Other responsibilities include coordinating with the Director of LRTO; mapping components using ARC / GIS or QGIS / CKK; engagement with Nation membership and elders regarding knowledge and culture of the Tsay Keh Dene Nation. Other related duties may be assigned by the Director of LRTO.

REFERRAL MANAGEMENT

  • Manage all referrals in coordination with the LRTO Department and membership.
  • GIS mapping.
  • Engagement with Nation membership using the Cultural Knowledge Keeper (CKK).
  • Reporting to Director and Advisors.
  • Perform duties as assigned by the LRTO Director.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND COORDINATION

  • Coordinate scheduled activities and oversee communications within the department.
  • Manage all referrals + CKK and Nation engagement.
  • Perform other tasks as required or directed.
  • Be able and ready to go into the field if required.

ADMINISTRATION

  • Work with Director of LRTO and Finance on preparing program budget(s).
  • Track and report LRTO program budgets (s) and report to Director.
  • Support programs and the implementation of projects from strategic financial and internal control perspectives.
  • Carry out general clerical and administrative duties.
  • Manage and oversee the filling of all appropriate documents and record systems.
  • Deal with correspondence – including writing of return correspondence.
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders to support key responsibility areas.
  • Perform other related duties assigned by the LRTO Director.

SUPERVISION

  • Supervise all office staff both in the Prince George Office and in Tsay Keh Dene. Community LRTO Department.
  • Orientate new LRTO hires ensuring all required training booked and completed.
  • Track performance of all staff and assist Director with reviews.
  • Follow HR and reporting policies with all staff members.

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum undergraduate degree in natural resource management or related field. College Diploma in a related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience in Lands & Resource management.
  • Experience with Microsoft excel and word
  • Experience working with First Nation/Aboriginal people in field of natural resources is an asset.
  • Experience in project and staff management
  • Experience with report writing and communications
  • Experience with budget management
  • A valid Driver’s License is required
  • Able to be flexible with schedule and meet travel expectations on a project to project basis
