If you are passionate about cyber security and have a background in security governance and optimization, we have a great opportunity for you! Using your continuous improvement attitude to seek greater knowledge and understanding of the systems and processes in the workplace, and working closely with the Manager of Data and Cyber Security Integration, you will be responsible for ensuring our security standards and policies are adhered to across the organization as we support digital transformation at Suncor.
You will use your expertise to:
Understand business outcomes and develop appropriate security requirements to support them, right through to implementation; manage expectations when balancing security alternatives against business, financial and technical constraints
Serve as a Cyber Security expert and trusted advisor to partners across Suncor’s business landscape
Communicate complex and technical issues to diverse audiences, orally and in writing, in an easy to understand, authoritative and actionable manner
Demonstrate technical expertise in existing security and IT systems, and keep pace with changing security and IT technologies
Track current and emerging threats and mitigate them through incorporation of security technologies and controls into solution architectures
Seek and implement improvements to security practices, risk-based decision-making and security tool effectiveness
We’d like to review your application if you have…
Must-haves (minimum requirements):
Eight years of experience in cyber security with extensive experience as a security solution expert
A broad knowledge of business, application, information, technical, infrastructure, and security architecture, and experience with Enterprise Architecture frameworks and processes (e.g. TOGAF, FEA, SABSA, Zachmann)
Expert working knowledge of security tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, A/V and anti-spam
Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Linux/Unix and network system administration, and security controls including common security baselines like NIST and CIS
An understanding of the methodology used in performing security incident response
High integrity; you hold others accountable and expect them to do the sameAlignment with our values: safety above all else, stronger together, operational discipline, curiosity and lifelong learning, and act with integrity
Oil and Gas experience, including security for Industrial Control Systems
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
A certification in any of the following: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or SANS
Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:
You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
Occasional travel may be required on an infrequent basis to Suncor’s operating sites in Alberta and Ontario, based on business demands
