Founded in 1910 and located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Mount Royal University grew into a vibrant college in the 1930s and became a mid-sized university in 2009. Mount Royal University is located in the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of the Treaty 7 region in southern Alberta, which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut'ina and the Iyarhe Nakoda. We are situated on land where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. The traditional Blackfoot name of this place is "Mohkinstsis," which we now call the city of Calgary. The city of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation.
About the Department of Enrolment Services
Mount Royal University’s Enrolment Services supports the University’s mission by assisting students in a variety of ways through many departments: Admissions and Recruitment, Office of the Registrar, Office of Student Conduct, Office of Student Success, Student Awards and Financial Aid, Institutional Analysis and Student Systems.
About the Role
The Coordinator will develop and implement an innovative student recruitment strategy to meet institutional and program-level enrolment targets and specific recruitment goals as outlined in the institutional strategic plan. The role is responsible for the implementation of institutional recruitment tactics and initiatives in conjunction with the Director, Admissions and Recruitment and in close consultation with Marketing and Communications in a manner consistent with the MRU brand. The recruitment unit is comprised of seven recruitment officers, two recruitment assistants, a data processing administrator and various casual employees, for which the Coordinator takes responsibility through effective hiring practices, training, and operational support to the unit. This includes, but is not limited to, coordination of the territory management model for student recruitment, supervisory responsibilities, technology implementation, use and support, customer service, and publication support.
Develop and implement an innovative recruitment strategy to meet institutional enrolment targets and specific recruitment goals as outlined in the intuitional strategic plan (regional, special populations, international)
Seek new opportunities in the digital transformation of recruitment tactics
Operationalize recruitment marketing strategies with recruitment officers
Establish and implement customer service standards in alignment with institutional service commitments
Ensure efficient and customer friendly processes within the recruitment area to manage recruitment visits, appointments, drop-in services, electronic communication, etc.
Maintain in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of admission requirements and procedures for each program to facilitate the dissemination of accurate information to prospective students and influencers
Maintain an in-depth understanding of the student information system (Banner) for the purpose of navigation, retrieval, problem-solving and system development and enhancement
Develop content for the customer relationship management system and other internal communication materials (FAQ’s, templates, workshops, materials, etc.)
Implement effective hiring and training practices in conjunction with the Director, Admissions and Recruitment (supervisory responsibility for 10 staff members)
Work closely with Deans, Chairs, faculty, and staff, within the academic areas and service areas to ensure collaboration regarding institutional and program-based recruitment initiatives
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required
Minimum three to five years of previous experience
Knowledge of the post-secondary environment and ability to assist post-secondary students
Excellent organizational ability/time management
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to de-escalate situations
Ability to work independently and employ excellent judgment
Accountability for a high degree of accuracy
Strong technology interest and ability
Evidence of innovation and creativity
Previous supervisory experience

Salary: $2,872.17 Semi-monthly
