As Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in managing the overall performance, maintenance and repair of the grain elevator and crop inputs facility at our Centralia location. The Operations Manager will oversee quality control measures on incoming and outgoing shipments and the maintenance and compliance of a safe working environment.

Your day to day activities will include:

  • Managing the quality control & blending of grain
  • Supervising the daily operation of the grain elevator facility, fertilizer shed and crop inputs warehouse
  • Performing regular maintenance and repair on facility equipment
  • Supervising Elevator Operators to ensure day to day business needs are executed safely, efficiently and profitably
  • Managing the facility safety program and actively working to create a strong safety culture
  • Overseeing food safety compliance
  • Supporting the procurement of grain and sales of crop inputs
  • Ensure responsible business practices are followed consistently

The successful candidate should enter the position with the following qualifications:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in the operation of a grain elevator and/or crop inputs retail location including shipping/receiving, collecting and grading grain samples, loading/unloading fertilizer, customer service and mechanical repair
  • Knowledge and understanding of threats to storing grain and oilseed
  • Ability to identify common downgrading factors found in cereal grains, oilseeds and corn.
  • Demonstrates sound knowledge of elevator equipment
  • Competency in grading wheat, soybeans and corn
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Accuracy and attention to detail required for record keeping
  • Strong decision-making and problem solving skills
  • Customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Leadership and coaching skills
