What You Will Do
We are currently looking for a Track Inspector to join our Toronto office. This position is for skilled technical track inspection work. An employee in this position is responsible for inspecting track and track related components, calibration and use of track gauges, levels and other measuring devices. The work requires an understanding of maintenance procedures and practices, maintenance theory, the materials, parts, tools, test equipment associated with track and track components.
In an increasingly complex and financially constrained environment, Gannett Fleming recognizes that safety, operating efficiency, state of good repair, stakeholder requirements, and risk mitigation drive program success. We provide planning, engineering, program delivery, testing, and commissioning services to the transit and freight rail industries and offer extensive experience in rail and bus systems, transit facilities, and civil and structural infrastructure. We deliver system expansions and upgrades for bus, commuter railroads, freight railroads, and light and heavy rail transit systems.
Typical duties and responsibilities;
Perform daily track inspections, complete track inspection reports, and report unsafe conditions to the Owner for immediate action.
Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections, troubleshoot and evaluate track and track components using precision measuring equipment such as track levels, track gauges and other related measuring devices.
Perform special inspections of the track structure in times of severe weather or other events which may damage the track and track structure.
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Satisfactory completion of an acceptable training program in Track Inspection Guidelines qualified is preferred.
A minimum of five (5) years of experience working for a rail transit agency or railroad, with some experience inspecting rail transit or Class 5 (or higher) railroad.
Experience in working in transit or heavy rail electrified lines.
Possess the knowledge and have experience with railroad track construction and maintenance.
Recognize and understand track safety standards and apply the knowledge in the field.
Capable of documenting items of non-compliance.
Demonstrate knowledge of and comply with Roadway Worker Protection rules.
Ability to pass FRA mandated drug and alcohol testing.
Good oral and written communication skills.
A valid motor vehicle operator's license issued from jurisdiction of residence and a safe driving record.
Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and temperatures, and work variable shifts, days and hours as required.
