What can I expect to do in this role?
The Bureau Commander of Career Development Bureau seeks a qualified member to independently provide a full range of occupational health and safety program development and management support services to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), developing strategic business partnerships with client managers and external stakeholders to promote health and safety and foster a respectful work environment free from discrimination and harassment.

How do I qualify?
Mandatory
Ability to pass an OPP background security investigation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Sound knowledge of and experience with Occupational Health and Safety principles/practices/policies and related legislation; including Occupational Health and Safety Act, case law, Human Rights Code, Workplace Discrimination and Harassment Prevention policy/program and staff relations issues.

Strong client service/development, relationship building and impact and influence skills to develop and implement effective and consistent OHS programs/policies/practices in keeping with applicable legislation and collective agreement provisions, across the organization, while managing conflicting deadlines.

Oral & written communication and research skills to provide advice and guidance to clients, craft correspondence, develop and deliver information sessions, presentations, resource materials and program documents.

Demonstrate cooperation within and beyond own team; contribute to team effectiveness, support team decisions; accept personal accountability and share responsibility for overall challenges and successes of the team.

Demonstrate project management skills to lead or participate on self-directed teams, projects and initiatives.

Demonstrate an understanding of conflict resolution, negotiation, consultation and relationship building skills to initiate and maintain consultation processes, partnerships and working relationships with workplace stakeholders.
