The Integrated Marketing Communications Branch in the City’s Communications and Engagement Department serves many exciting business areas to help move their projects, programs and services forward. You will help advance, enhance and protect the City’s reputation as you support the marketing communications objectives of City services that keep Edmontonians working, moving and thriving.

As a member of an integrated team of marketing communications professionals, you will embrace the challenge of supporting major city services that help enable a better life for Edmontonians. You will connect the dots of the work we do to why we do it. You will help inform, educate and inspire Edmontonians in clear, consistent ways that demonstrate accountability while telling the story of maintaining and operating Edmonton. You will help prepare citizens for change, provide connection to people, services and places, share their stories, celebrate milestones, build trust and leverage their passions into a relationship. Five roles (permanent, 11-month and three up to 18-month positions) are available within the Integrated Marketing Communications City Operations section supporting a wide range of high-profile and high-impact services:
Parks and Roads Services: essential service initiatives such as snow and ice control, spring sweep, potholes, spring/summer programs, naturalization, pest management, commemorative programs, parking services, sportsfield management and numerous community initiatives and programs
Traffic Safety: speed reduction, safe mobility strategy, Vision Zero initiatives and programs
Waste Services: 25-year waste strategy, citywide cart rollout, waste reduction
In this fast-paced work environment, and with a focus on the City of Edmonton’s Cultural Commitments to Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, you will:
Develop, implement, plan and manage strategic short- and long-term integrated marketing communications strategies and activities
Proactively and reactively manage media relations and potential issues to protect and enhance the reputation of the City
Identify opportunities to develop strategies based on department and corporate priorities, project timing and project lifecycle
Leverage social media in support of corporate objectives, including generating social media plans, creating content, and liaising with the Media Relations Unit to optimize social media use
Work with clients, consultants, designers and suppliers to help create effective marketing, communication and advertising products
Provide strategic communications support to internal communications and public engagement initiatives to ensure integrated marketing communications and engagement strategies and plans
Identify emerging issues and implement strategies to position the City effectively with both internal and external audiences
Develop and lead the production of marketing and communication materials, ensuring products are on or under budget and consistent with City visual identity guidelines
Apply well-developed client-based services and delivery in the context of highly-honed marketing communications skills and knowledge to become a trusted strategic advisor
Maintain a broad perspective on corporate, departmental and branch issues and priorities, as well as those of Council, stakeholder groups, professional associations and other orders of government in order to inform marketing communications strategies
Achieve results within a service-minded, respectful and inclusive style
Write, edit, review, coordinate and manage marketing and communications products and proofs, including: plans, content strategies, media releases, ads, web content, 311 content, signage, fact sheets, briefing notes, social media posts, blog posts, stories, newsletters and reports, videos

Qualifications :
Degree in communications, public relations or a related field, supplemented by a minimum of 2 years progressively responsible experience in a designated corporate communications, public relations, public affairs or public information position; OR Diploma in a communications, public relations or a related field, supplemented by a minimum of 4 years progressively responsible experience in a designated corporate communications, public relations, public affairs or public information position
Knowledge of large-scale, multi-year projects or promoting public involvement
Experience with corporate marketing and communication tools, marketing and communication planning, advertising, printing, graphic design, traditional media, social media and other web-based communications
Demonstrated understanding of effective public engagement tactics and strategy
Experience supporting effective marketing communications activities from concept to implementation
Demonstrated experience in successfully creating, developing, implementing and evaluating marketing and communications plans
Demonstrated experience with traditional media relations, coaching spokespeople and acting as a spokesperson
Demonstrate proficiency using Google applications
Demonstrated experience related to project management and communicating with stakeholder groups
Superior issues identification and management skills along with proven client consulting and relationship-building skills
Demonstrated superior written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Demonstrated commitment to engaging a service-minded, respectful and inclusive style

Hours of Work: 33.75 hours per week

Salary: $43.384 - $54.671 (Hourly); $76,431.76 - $96,316.63 (Annually)
