Director, Business Affairs, Production Funding
The Production team at Blue Ant Media is looking for a new Director, Business Affairs, Production Funding to join our team. Reporting to Vice President, Legal & Business Affairs, the Director, Business Affairs Production Funding will be responsible for advising and assisting our production team with the procurement of all available Canadian production funding, including tax credits, CMF and independent production funds for our North American original productions, service productions and treaty co-productions. You will also advise and assist our Canadian television channels team on all matters related to its CMF performance envelope.
A thorough understanding of the rules and regulations of Canadian production tax credits, CMF and independent production funds is imperative. The successful candidate should also be a creative problem solver with the ability to manage competing interests and multiple deadlines.
Your responsibilities will include:
Research, analysis and advice on the availability of government and independent funding for scripted, unscripted and animation projects (e.g. CAVCO, CMF, Bell Fund, Rogers Fund, export funds, development funds, digital funds)
Strategic production financing advice and calculations including applicability and availability of tax credits, CMF and other funding
Research, analysis and advice regarding funding availability and eligibility for international treaty co-productions, Canadian Content and production service arrangements
Analysis and strategic advice to most effectively manage and grow Canadian Channel’s CMF performance envelope
Relationship manager / point person with CMF on behalf of Canadian networks. Includes tracking gender parity and other requirements etc.
Management and fulfillment of applications, regulatory and administrative matters involving CAVCO, CMF and independent production funds, including timely provision of all necessary paperwork and other deliverables to meet funding deadlines
Review and strategic advice regarding production structuring to maximize available funding.
You are an ideal candidate if you have/are:
6+ years of experience working in the Canadian production industry
Thorough and detailed knowledge of the rules and practices of all Canadian production funding, including CAVCO, CMF and available independent production funds
Hands on experience managing a CMF envelope for a Canadian broadcaster
A proven track record of providing successful strategic advice and direction to Canadian production companies and Canadian channels to maximize available funding
Established relationships with staff and analysts at CAVCO, CMF and the independent production funds
Exceptional organizational skill and extremely detail oriented
Must thrive in a fast paced environment
Ability to prioritize and manage competing deadlines and interests
Creative problem solver
