IBEC is a not-for-profit, community-based environmental organization, focused on the conservation & habitat enhancement of the Indian Bay Watershed. It also deals with educational & environmental projects throughout the Bonavista North region.

Based in the beautiful town of Indian Bay, IBEC is well-respected within federal & provincial environmental circles & other environmental non-government organizations. The operating area of IBEC provides outdoor enthusiast the chance to enjoy salmon & trout fishing, hiking along the Indian Bay River, visiting many tourist attractions, & much more.

The Assistant Project Coordinator will be based out of our office in Indian Bay. The successful candidate will have responsibilities working under the general guidance of IBEC’s volunteer Board of Directors & under direct supervision of the Manager & Project Coordinator. The successful candidate will provide support in the following areas:

· Implementation of conservation, enhancement & restoration projects in the Indian Bay Watershed, Cape Freels, & the entire Bonavista North region

· Assist with managing environmental projects, both in the Indian Bay Watershed & throughout the region

· Assist in the development, marketing & delivery of presentations & events

· Preparation of reports & other necessary documentation

· Identify important habitats & areas of concern, that should be prioritized for future protection & restoration

· Potentially co-host the monthly 709 Watershed podcast, including interviewing guest, recording ads & other related duties

Qualifications and Experience:

· Successful completion of post-secondary training in the areas of Environmental Science, Wildlife Biology or Ecology, or related education/experience

· Experience with managing people & projects

· Experience using GIS software

· Technical & proposal writing skills

· Field work & site assessment experience

· Experience with side-by-side usage or willing to learn how to operate

· Must hold a valid driver's license & have access to a vehicle

Salary: $17/hr for 40 hours a week for 20 weeks
