BCIT’s Learning and Teaching Centre department is seeking a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE) Assessment Applications Specialist. The Assessment Applications Specialist provides survey coordination including: data collection, tabulation, proofreading, printing and distribution of reports. Supports Institute’s instructional assessment and exam activities, including: Internet research, system administration of the survey system such as creating IDs, configuring surveys and reports. Assists on surveys executed by the department, data analysis, and formatting and updating reports and other documents.

Duties & Responsibilities

System Administration:
Designs, schedules and implements quality assurance processes related to surveys and back-up procedures; ensures quality assurance tests are run regularly and schedules are adhered to. Monitors analytics of the survey system to ensure quality assurance and reliable operations; reports results to the Supervisor.
Implements and maintains scanning software and sets up appropriate data and file structures for new and/or existing reporting systems. Ensures existing software is kept current and new software is installed where required. Recommends changes or enhancements to the survey system to improve performance or functionality of the system.
Provides level 1 technical support for software of dedicated workstations including: basic network administration, troubleshooting of desktop applications, maintenance of files and other applications.
Works with the external system vendors on escalated hardware and software support issues and follows to resolution.
Liaises with IT Services as required to troubleshoot configuration or operational issues and provides one-on-one support to troubleshoot problems related to survey systems.
Provides Intermedia and advanced technical support of the survey system including administering IDs, configuring reports, and troubleshooting performance issues.
Assumes a technical role on projects related to the survey system, or services provided by the Instructional Assessments and Exams team and works with the Supervisor, Instructional Assessments & Exams, to implement system upgrades.
Trains survey administrators on systems procedures, recent modifications, specialized software programs, and all newly implemented systems.

Assists in preparation of surveys and coordinates distribution and collection. Participates in development of procedures pertaining to collection of data and distribution of confidential reports.
Prepares surveys such as keying in questionnaire using survey software and assisting in dispersal of paper surveys. Responds to general inquiries and educates callers on methods to access key information.

Grade 12 plus additional specialized training of up to one year in duration (i.e. Certificate program), preferably in business or related IT field.
Two years general office experience plus up to four year’s practical current experience in a similar position in a technical office environment.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access). Proficiency with technical systems administration of enterprise-class systems
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of cloud-based enterprise-class survey systems.
Good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Excellent customer service skills with an emphasis on quality.
Must be detail-oriented with good problem solving, literacy and numeracy skills.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize work and meet deadlines.

Please note: These are the minimum required qualifications. This position is a day shift position as defined in Article 14.1 of the Collective Agreement.

Salary Range Pay Grade 7; $48,726 to $53,107 per annum.
Additional Salary Information

Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment.
