Stó: lō Service Agency requires the services of a qualified Guardians Program Manager to fill a vacancy with the S’ólh Téméxw Stewardship Alliance (STSA) Guardians Program of the Stó: lō Research and Resource Management Centre. The Guardians Program Manager will be responsible for the Key Results: Lead development of the Guardians Program; Establish program development plan, key milestones and reporting mechanisms; Develop a financial plan and undertake fundraising activities to ensure the long-term viability of the program, including grant applications and business case development; Engage and involve internal and external partners, including but not limited to STSA leadership and communities, Collaborative Stewardship Forum (CSF) members, and government agencies; Facilitate the development of a vision for the program; Support communities and CSF members in defining the role of guardians within S’ólh Téméxw (Stó: lō Traditional Territory); Support the development of a training program for Guardians; Support community members in hiring and managing Guardians, and provide regular reports on project results to CSF project team

This position reports to the SRRMC Director. The successful candidate will work out of the Central (Chilliwack) office. Some travel may be required for this position.


  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and at least 5 years of related experience (see below) OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must have significant experience working with Indigenous communities
  • Must have experience in strategic planning and development of innovative programs and in leading implementation of those plans
  • Must have experience developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships
  • Must have experience in project management, including budget development and management
  • Must have experience in grant-writing and fundraising
  • Must have experience working independently and co-operatively within diverse teams, work groups and across the organization to achieve group and organizational goals
  • Must have proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Must maintain a healthy working relationship with staff, community representatives/members and representatives of other organizations and programs
  • Must maintain the confidentiality guidelines of all records, materials and communications concerning clients, staff and Stó: lō Service Agency
  • Previous experience related to Guardians work or compliance and enforcement work, preferred
  • Previous experience related to program management or natural resource stewardship, preferred
  • Five (5) or more years of experience working directly with Indigenous communities will be preferred
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide the following if screened in for an interview:
  • Proof of education documentation
  • References: Three names and phone numbers of recent supervisors
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Drivers’ License
  • Must successfully pass the required pre-employment Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General Check.

Salary Range: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per annum, based on qualifications/experience.

Type of Position: Full-time Term Position (January 2020 to March 2021 – subject to possible extension) with benefits, subject to 3-month probationary period and planned performance evaluations.
