Reporting jointly to the Provost and Vice-President Academic, and to the Vice-President, Student Affairs, the Vice Provost, Teaching and Learning provides senior leadership and support to the University’s pursuit of excellence in teaching and learning. Promoting the integration of research-based teaching pedagogy, student learning, student success and student development best practices, the Vice Provost, Teaching and Learning collaborates with academic and professional colleagues to further the mission of the University. The Vice Provost, Teaching and Learning will develop the approach, lead implementation of programs and action steps, and plan for meaningful assessment of programs against their goals.

The Vice Provost, Teaching and Learning should be an innovative and inclusive leader with an openness to new teaching and learning approaches and having the competencies to lead institutional change. In addition, they have the expertise and ability to inspire new ways of thinking about, and engaging in, contemporary high-impact approaches to teaching, learning, and student success. The ideal candidate will be a proven academic leader with a student focus and achievements in the areas of teaching and learning. As a relationship builder with a collaborative leadership style, the ideal candidate will also be able to effectively engage with multiple and diverse community members and recognize the importance of addressing challenging issues inside and beyond the classroom. Excellent communication skills are essential, as is a passion for working with faculty, students, and staff on teaching excellence and student success in a multi-campus environment. The Vice Provost, Teaching and Learning will also hold a tenured faculty position. Candidates must have a terminal degree and a record of teaching, scholarship and service that support appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor at Laurier.
