Are you a numbers person that is inspired to learn and look for efficiencies to improve company processes? If so we have the perfect role for you to grow your passion. We are seeking someone who is interested in gaining valuable job experience over a 3 month work term as our Operations Accountant. Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Controller, this position will be assisting with various aspects of accounting at Elements Casino Victoria, Casino Nanaimo, and Bingo Esquimalt.

Assist with verifying, recording and reconciling various revenue, cost of sales and inventories at various outlets (Food & Beverage, Bingo & Lotto)
Reconcile promotion accounts, F&B and other cash floats
Support month end, quarterly and year end processes
Review and post Food & Beverage revenue and cost of goods sold
Assist with preparing presentations, reporting and information packages for management
Assist with preparing monthly, quarterly and annual working papers, analysis and budget process
Work closely with Assistant Controller to maintain and improve financial procedures
Liaise and communicate effectively with all appropriate business units
Perform other duties as assigned or directed

Minimum 1 year of recent working experience in accounting is required
Completion of an Accounting diploma/degree or working towards a degree
Studying for the CPA designation an asset
Solid understanding of accounting principles, practices and procedures
Strong Excel skills and a high proficiency in other MS Office software
Understanding of Corporate ERP and Business Intelligence systems, ideally familiar with Cognos and JDE
Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Candidate must be able to obtain a Serving It Right certificate
The ability to successfully obtain a Criminal Record Check through the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch (GPEB)
