The Instructor - Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) for the Stollery Preadmission Clinic/Same Day Admit revitalization project, Phase 2 – Patient and Family Centric Discharge Support will work in partnership with the clinical and leadership team of the Stollery Surgical Services Program. This position will report to the Manager for Quality, Safety, Education & Capacity Planning, as is an extension of work previously started in the area. This temporary position will be responsible for activities related to the ongoing development of an evidence based, revitalized Stollery surgical discharge process and program. The CNE will be responsible for providing educational support and clinical insight into the planning, implementation and completion of the Patient and Family Centric Discharge Support work at the Stollery Children’s Hospital. This position will work closely with the Project Manager and all other key stakeholders pertinent to the project, facilitating their engagement as well as supporting the project manager to anticipate, investigate, and resolve issues and concerns related to education. The CNE is vital in providing educational support as it relates to process changes and outcomes of the project. The Clinical Nurse Educator works in a collaborative manner to facilitate quality patient care in accordance with the philosophy, mission and values of the UAH and Stollery Children's Hospital. The CNE facilitates, coordinates and evaluates the educational needs of all levels of staff according to policies and procedures, focusing on family centered care. Recognizes the value and works within a Family Centered Care Philosophy.
As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years’ experience as an educator in pediatric healthcare environment. Must have current project experience at the Stollery Children’s Hospital related to quality improvement of the patient/family experience. Proven experience and success in program development required. Demonstrated ability in identifying patient needs, gathering patient and stakeholder input to meet quality improvement initiatives. Self-directed, able to work independently and in a team environment. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, problem solving, conflict resolution and decision making skills. Must possess the ability to facilitate team work, change management and resource management. Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Position requires flexibility in hours to meet needs of the department.
Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint preferred.
