Reporting to the Supervisor, Business Improvement Services, the Business Analyst, Business Improvement Services is responsible for bridging the gaps between business and technology by aligning project partners and translating business needs into robust solutions. They are directly responsible for process analysis, and developing digital solutions that improve performance efficiency. This role requires hands-on analysis with excellent customer service and communication skills to develop positive relationships with clients, solution architects, developers, and external partners.

This position is primarily for our Coal Business Unit with up to 40% for our other Business Units. Majority of travel will be to our Elk Valley operations, with approximately 20% of travel to our operations outside of the Elk Valley.
Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
Perform research using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, and workflow analysis
Coordinate data analysis, User Acceptance Tests, generate dashboards and reports, monitor critical metrics, and deliver support as required
Evaluate and select the best commercial software and technology solutions, primarily in the maintenance and reliability domain
Develop solution documentation and host webinars for training, updates, and solution roll outs to end users with varied backgrounds
Identify issues and propose resolutions, advancing to appropriate personnel as needed
Evaluate information gathered from various sources, reconcile differences, and translate high-level information
Develop business cases and Proof-of-Concept for addressing business improvement initiatives
Undergraduate degree in a related field such as Business Administration, Engineering, Information Technology, or a technical diploma with a combination of relevant experience
Three to five years demonstrated ability in delivering solutions and relevant business analysis
Experience in Mining Operations, Operational Excellence, or Industrial Maintenance practices preferred
Understanding of change management practices; experience implementing within a project environment would be an asset
Experience with the Software Development Lifecycle in the areas of requirements gathering, prioritization, quality assurance, user training, and task management strategies
Experience in SQL, Data modelling, Relational Databases, Big Data, and modern analytical tools such as Tableau, Spotfire, or Power BI
Understanding of Cloud platforms, such as Google Cloud Platform, Azure, or Amazon would be considered an asset
Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem solving skills with a continuous improvement demeanor
Ability to effectively collaborate with others, including individuals from both technology and operations, at all levels of an organization
Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
Ability to travel to North and South America
Working level Spanish would be an asset
