The Manager in Business Insights & Analytics (BIA) is an integral business partner in Roche/Genentech’s clinical operations planning, tracking and continuous improvement efforts. He/she has a broad understanding of people management and working effectively in a cross-functional environment. As an integral participant in planning and executing relevant focus area activities and deliverables, projects and initiatives, he/she is crucial in ensuring business stakeholders get the insights and decision support for their business needs. He/she engages with customers and stakeholders to determine business needs, priorities, design solutions while cultivating alignment across the broader Roche/Genentech organization. He/she leads organizational learning spanning multiple disease states and ensures functional expertise continues to flourish and develop towards future business needs. He/she oversees and leads individuals in leveraging primary and secondary data to address key business questions and support the development of insights and analytics strategies.
Guiding Business Through Design and Delivery of Strategic Analytics and Insights
Acquire, aggregate and/or curate data and information Lead application of analytical and statistical methods to answer a variety of business questions using multiple data sources and technical tools Monitor and assess the effectiveness of enrollment and engagement efforts, projects, and practices and identify opportunities to optimize value of investments Build accurate short-and long-term forecasts Lead work pulling insights from primary and secondary data, to continuously improve forecast methods and accuracy Communicate the effects that trial design elements, country and site selection, competitor activities and new engagement tactics will have on clinical trial recruitment & retention forecasts Collaborate within cross-functional teams to develop solutions, gain alignment and deliver impactful business insights; engage necessary stakeholders to enable better decision-making Openly share perspective and insights to elevate team thinking and drive a balanced, holistic point of view; effectively weigh and communicate trade-off considerations Take an enterprise and One PDG mindset, linking individual and team responsibilities with broader organization; focus on outcomes that provide most business value Demonstrate self-accountability and integrity Demonstrate strategic agility and an ability to engage stakeholders to understand and diagnose business problems and recommend appropriate courses of action Look for opportunities for continuous improvement; engage managers and peer group regularly for coaching, assistance, and advocacy Stay current with and adopt emergent relevant methodologies, tools and applications to ensure fit-for-purpose and impactful approaches. Act as a thought partner and advisor to all relevant teams and stakeholders; look for and establish opportunities for peer mentorship Collaborate and contribute to functional, cross-functional, enterprise-wide and/or external communities, networks, collaboratives, initiatives or goals on knowledge-sharing, methodologies, innovations, technology, IT infrastructure, policy-shaping, processes and systems to enable broader and more effective use of insights and/or analytics to support business

EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or Physical Sciences or related field preferred
Six or more years analytical experience, preferably within pharmaceutical or biotech industry
Two or more years of people management experience preferred
Experience building teams with the appropriate mix of capabilities to achieve goal-oriented project outcomes, as well as coaching and training team members to become strategic thought partners
Proven track record of working effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced,
cross-functional environment; ability to represent the work across all functions is a plus
Experience synthesizing and delivering high quality insights to senior leadership and key stakeholders
Demonstrated capabilities in one or more of the following areas
Data analytics, including considerable experience applying exploratory & confirmatory data analysis techniques, methodologies and tools as well as various secondary data sources (i.e.., census data, patient-level data, trial registry data, disease and treatment information etc...)
Awareness of scripting, statistical & programming languages and analytical tools a plus (i.e. Python, Metlab, R, SAS, Google/Adobe analytics, SQL)
Experience with forecast modeling, including familiarity with patient-based models, trending, and uncertainty analyses
Expertise in standard analysis and presentation software
Ability to merge together data sets from disparate sources and report findings in a variety of formats and mediums
Persuasive written and verbal communication skills, easily communicating complex ideas.
Strong attention to detail
Experience managing outside vendors preferred
