The General Manager will be responsible for planning and directing the Track Components Business Unit to accomplish financial objectives and short- and long-term strategies. This includes operations of the manufacturing plant in in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec as well as engineering, purchasing, human resources, and plant accounting. Position works with Rail Business Senior Management and with Rail Business Sales and Marketing team to achieve objectives.

Essential functions:
Manage and direct the Track Component business unit towards established objectives, profitability, ROI and other key performance metrics
Coordinate marketing and product pricing for Track Components
Provide leadership to all staff members to ensure all activities are executed within the corporate and Rail Business strategic objects. This includes P&L responsibility for the Track Components business and review of related financial statements
Direct and coordinate Track Components financial and budget activities to fund operations, maximize investments and increase efficiency
Responsible for productivity and safety of Plant Operations
Coach production, quality and maintenance teams for performance achievement in a safe environment
Responsible for seeing that productivity, quality and safety levels are met
Ensures that production and maintenance have adequate supplies of all related resources required to prevent stoppages, productions reductions, quality deficiencies or increased production costs
Plan and conduct negotiations with union representatives in concert with upper management’s recommendations
Perform CAPEX planning and manage approved project to stay within budget
Responsible for continuous improvement
Maximize efficiency of the operations to reduce costs
Prepare Annual Operating Plans, budgets, monthly and quarterly forecasts and other cyclical financial reporting in conjunction with accounting
Review and analyze monthly status reports (production, costs, etc.)
Provide direction, training and development of staff and employees
Develop and maintain relationships with key customers, vendors and other partners

Experience & Education:
Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or Engineering
10+ years of Management experience.
Experience in the freight and or passenger rail industries a plus
Union experience is preferred

Skills & Abilities:
Well- rounded management professional with a proven track record in P&L responsibility, manufacturing, project management and engineering
Experience in developing strategy, forecasts, business plans, including detailed financial plans
Full understanding of P&L including various financial statements is required
Strong communication and presentation skills. Confidence in working with and convincing a cross-section of people, including senior management
Bi-lingual (English/French) is a must
