Fresh City creates a better life through food. Founded in 2011, we are an urban farm and retailer of seasonal, sustainable and organic fresh food. Each day we make and bake exceptionally sourced meals, salads, snacks, breads, pastries and breakfasts from scratch. We operate two sister brands including Mabel’s Bakery, a popular bakery producing artisan breads and pastries and The Healthy Butcher, a pioneer in organic and 100% grass-fed beef. We farm in Downsview Park, where we also operate a farmer incubator program, as well as at Baka. We have eight retail locations between our three brands and deliver to thousands of homes each week throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
About the Job
We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic Retail Store Managers for our 3 brands; Fresh City Farms, Mabel's Bakery and The Healthy Butcher.
Our Store Managers are responsible for the day to day operation of the store, including all aspects of service, HR, training, displays, procurement, maintenance and overall store performance while leading by example and inspiring a team. Store P&L including achieving quarterly sales and margin targets at store level. Last but not least you will be the lead brand ambassador for the location, representing and promoting our 3 brands.

Have formal grocery store management experience
Have experience managing a large team, and various departments
Are a strong leader
Stay on top of food trends, and have seasonal sensibility
Are comfortable with running yields, pricing and protocol implementation
Possess an understanding of the natural food sector, including organics, local foods etc
Are familiar with the supply chain, and have worked with local/organic products in the past
Minimize waste and are proactive in avoiding it
Adhere to best health and safety practices, and are capable of managing them
Have ample energy/motivation, and want to be leading a team on a daily basis while managing hands on
Are looking to be challenged in your next role, and help shape a new program/project
Lead by example, and are able to motivate your team to meet your vision
Work well as part of a large team, and communicate effectively
Have experience scheduling a large team
Have a flexible schedule, and can work weekends and evenings

Skills & Experience Required
5+ years experience as a manager in the retail grocery field
2+ years in a senior management role, directly responsible for a team of 10+
Relevant experience that will be transferable to the operation
A track record of leading effectively, and experience maintaining HR standards
Great communication and interpersonal skills
Experience managing/maintaining health and safety standards
First aid training, Food Handler's Certificate
Formal culinary, beverage management training
Experience opening a similar business/venture
Hiring and other HR related experience
Product development experience
Knowledge of Nutritional Supplements and/or nutrition background
