Job Summary

The successful candidate will be hired as an hourly contractor and be responsible for the following:

Warehouse/Sortation and Dispatch:

  • Prepare the sortation area for inbound parcels
  • Ensure sort reference boards are up to date and accurate for the days sort
  • Off-load line-haul trucks and induct parcels into conveyor system, scan each package and sort package according to destination by sort code
  • Examine the appearance of outgoing packages for damage and report any issues for prompt resolution
  • Bag all sorted freight and stage the freight for carriers
  • Report sort related inventory item counts
  • Occasionally perform day end dispatch tasks post sort using our dispatching software
  • Perform any other task or assignment as deemed necessary by the organization

Performance Management:

  • Check for incorrect postal codes and destination codes to prevent missorted packages
  • Develop Continuous Improvement ideas and execute on ideas to reduce cost, increase customer experience and simplify processes
  • Daily assistance in the management of sortation to meet and exceed operational KPI’s, safety metrics and supplies inventory management requirements

Safety Management:

  • Responsible for proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times
  • Responsible for the dock safety of yourself and keeping the environment safe for others
  • Responsibility includes routine safety audits

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Experience with warehouse duties and manual labor considered an asset
  • Ability to operate in a fast paced environment and maintain focus to detail
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organization skills, communicate effectively in often-noisy surroundings
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Proficient with Email and G Suite
  • Dispatch experience considered an asset
  • Forklift experience considered an asset
