This role is perfect for the individual who has some experience with disability claims administration and is looking to expand that knowledge through hands-on exposure. This ideal candidate is a common-sense, results-focused individual with strong written and verbal communication skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Prepare and submit initial paperwork for WSIB/ WCB and Short-Term Disability claims to external agencies across Canada
Monitor and follow-up of RTW plans with managers to limit duration of claims
Document accurately all claim information using Parklane system
Maintain communication with insurance carrier ensuring non-occupational claims are reviewed on a timely basis, and that decisions and payments are made adhering to our contracts and service level agreements
Maintain communication with Compensation Boards across Canada regarding claim updates and decisions
Develop and facilitate Modified Work plans through collaboration with managers to optimize Early and Safe Return to Work
Promote Early and Safe Return to Work through ongoing coaching of managers, focusing on accommodation and coordination of modified duties
Assist with documentation and communication between managers and team members regarding accommodation
Track, report and evaluate incidents and claim costs, and provide feedback to Management Team
Run scheduled and ad hoc reports as required
Ensure ongoing compliance within WSIA, O.H.S.A, Human Rights Code and AODA as well as any other related legislation
Liaise with external organizations to stay current with all applicable legislation and to identify best practices while also providing input into corporate programs as required
Skills, Abilities and Experience:
1-2 years of related work experience in Human Resources with a focus on WSIB/WCB, disability claims administration and Return to Work planning
Strong knowledge of WSIB/WCB policy and procedures, CAD-7 and working knowledge of Parklane software
Strong knowledge of WSIA, Human Rights Code, OHSA, AODA, ESA as well as other related legislation
Flexible and adaptable, with strong time-management skills in order to meet strict reporting deadlines
Proven ability in obtaining fair results in all aspects of Claims Management and Return to Work programs
Ability to remain objective and demonstrate good decision-making skills in challenging scenarios
Demonstrated common sense and logical thinking
Ability to think critically and strategically
Demonstrated skills in the ability to support individuals at all levels in the organization
Service focused – interacting with both external agencies and internal partners
A self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Post-secondary education in related field
Must be able to travel occasionally
