The City of Iqaluit is looking for an experienced individual to join the Iqaluit Aquatic Centre team as an Aquatics Program Supervisor!

Status: Full-time permanent
Salary: 61,181.45 per annum to start
Various shifts including days, evenings, weekends, split shifts and holidays
Allowance: $20,907.44 per annum

Reporting to the Aquatics Program Manager, the Aquatics Program Supervisor is responsible for implementing recreational and instructional aquatics programs to meet the needs of the community. They will be responsible for lesson schedules, registration, staff scheduling, training and development of instructors and lifeguards. They will perform lifeguard duties and instruct swimming lessons. They must understand and embody the core competencies of the Recreation Department and have advanced communication skills. They must also possess the ability to listen effectively to concerns and complaints, in order to provide high quality conflict resolution with guests, staff and the general public.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Minimum education of High School Diploma or equivalent
Two (2) or more years of directly related work experience, including supervision of staff
Two (2) or more years experience as an instructor and lifeguard
Knowledge planning courses for Bronze level and higher
Strong leadership, communication and customer service skills
Confident with computers, office equipment and office-related duties; experience with a Recreation Management System would be an asset

Standard First Aid Instructor
First Aid and CPR – C
Assets include, the ability to speak and write in Inuktitut and or French, northern experience and the following certifications: National Lifeguard Instructor and Examiner, Pool Operations Level 1, First aid and CPR Instructor, LS Mentor, AST Instructor (Lifesaving Aquatic Supervisor Training), LSS Aquatic Facility Inspector, High Five, Quest Evaluator, Aquafit certification (Cala, waterART), NCCP Coaching Level 1
Equivalencies that include a combination of education and experience may be considered.
Proof of credentials are required at time of application with an expectation to keep certifications valid. The successful candidate would be required to submit an acceptable Criminal and Vulnerable Sector Check, as well as, TB testing.
