General Overview

Reporting to the General Manager, the incumbent provides technical expertise and support as it relates to contractual obligations and ensures compliance with York Region contract stipulations.

Coordinating quality assurance activities related to the preventative and running maintenance of the fleet of buses. Conducting quality checks of preventative maintenance repairs on inspection quality, repair quality, cleaning and servicing. Providing technical expertise and support for fleet maintenance.


Key Responsibilities:
providing technical expertise and support to the General Manager and Maintenance Manager
auditing M5 data to ensure accuracy
auditing change off reports and monitor for accuracy and legitimacy
preparing technical correspondence on matters related to Transdev operations
preparing technical bulletins regarding equipment and material changes
troubleshooting “repeater” or more difficult repair problems
conducting testing in conjunction with Transdev maintenance staff
assisting in the inspection of the transfer of vehicles to ensure compliance with contractual items
inspecting and evaluating new vehicle specifications to any delivery of new vehicles
investigating and making recommendations for future equipment and material requirements
monitoring inventory and developing min/max levels
assisting in the identification of potential suppliers
providing part numbers and technical information as required to assist in identifying parts
developing new vehicle parts inventories
conducting on-site visits with suppliers to ensure transactions meet expected standards
liaising and communicating with contractor shops to ensure the overhauled units meet the expected standardsAddressing environmental, safety, and other compliance issues related to garage operations. This involves:
liaising with the Safety department in auditing Safety and Environment related matters in order to ensure compliance with policies and regulations
maintaining and updating W.H.M.I.S. information sheets and emergency procedures relating to environmental issues
maintains and updates information for emergency procedures relating to environmental, safety, fire prevention, industrial hygiene etc.
liaising with the Occupational Hygiene section and ensuring MSDS sheets are available for all new purchased chemicals in ensuring safety and compliance with policies and regulations
liaising with the Safety Section and ensuring compliance with fire regulations.

Administration of Warranty Program.

coordinating warranty repair work with original equipment manufacturers
developing methods and procedures to track, monitor, and quantify warranty recoveries from suppliers through the input of data in the M5 system
validating ongoing warranty claims as submitted by Coach Technicians
coordinating claims with the Finance Section in a timely fashion


At least 5 years similar experience in a fast paced, demanding environment
At least 5 years management/supervisory experience
Cost control or financial/budget experience
Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to influence people at all levels of the organization, both vertical and horizontal
Highly organized with ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while exceeding established goals and objectives
Experience working with employees in multi-unit locations
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office software

Preferred Skills and Education:
Six Sigma Green belt certification an asset
Valid Truck and Coach Technician Certificate (310T)
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent knowledge in Business Administration, Logistics, or Transportation preferred
