Location: Natuashish, NL
Reporting to the Manager of Mental Health and Addictions, the primary purpose of this position is to provide specialized mental health and addictions services to individuals, families and groups, including screening, assessment, counseling, education, referral, and advocacy. The incumbent works within a multidisciplinary team setting, and in addition to clinical services, works with other team members to develop and deliver health promotion and other educational sessions in the community.
" Bachelor Degree in Social Work
" Currently registered with NLASW
" 2 years current experience (within the last 5 years) in an addictions and/or mental health setting
" Demonstrated knowledge and experience of professional addictions and concurrent disorder, Best Practice Standards as it relates to assessment, treatment, planning, counselling, and evaluation
" Demonstrated ability in interviewing and crisis intervention techniques
" Demonstrated analytical, as well as, oral and written communication skills
" Demonstrated independence, initiative, and ability to work with others
" Willing to work a flexible work schedule, may include evenings and weekends
" Use of a private vehicle and valid driver license are a condition of employment
" A satisfactory certificate of conduct
" Provides intake, assessment, counseling, and referral services;
" Conduct comprehensive interviews with individual and families to assess the nature and extent of problem areas;
" Facilitate individual treatment plus through consultation with clients, family members and other service providers;
" Provides counseling to clients and families, based on client needs and goals;
" Locate and arrange resources, in consultation with service providers, based on client's needs;
" Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team in the development, implementation and evaluation of services;
" Develop and deliver addictions prevention and mental health promotion programs;
" Utilize the principles and practices of Continuous Quality Improvement in service and program delivery;
" Provides support to other members of the multidisciplinary team across the region, which may include providing coverage and/or travelling to various parts of the region to assist with service delivery;
" Maintain workload statistics, completes accurate and timely clinical documentation through the Client Referral Management System;
" Perform other related duties as required.
" CG - 39 of the NAPE-HP salary scales, $34.36 to $38.45 per hour plus the applicable Labrador Allowance.
Hours of Work:
" Flexible work schedule. Three weeks in Natuashish and one week in Goose Bay.
